Why sales are falling: diagnose before changing campaigns
SNS Team · Reviewed 2026-11-05
If you change the advertisement, price and sales process together, results may move without revealing what made the difference.
Follow the sale: did people see the offer, enquire, buy, receive the order and pay? Start at the first stage where performance declined. A footwear store and a maintenance centre can have very different causes of falling sales. Identify your problem before choosing a fix. Save this map for the next change in sales.
Diagnose the first stage that changed
Separate visits from enquiries, enquiries from orders, and orders from delivery and collection. Compare similar days and periods, allowing for seasonality, price changes and stock. A traffic-source or event-definition change can alter a rate even if customer behaviour is unchanged.
A practical step to try
If visits are stable but orders fall, review product pages, the offer, objections and availability. If orders are stable but collections fall, start with cancellations and delivery. Choose one hypothesis, an owner and a review date rather than changing price, advertising and website together.
Is Media Buying always the solution?
When qualified reach falls, reviewing campaigns matters. When the problem happens after arrival, more spend may multiply the same leak. Connect Ads Manager reporting with website and sales records, and examine real customer journeys before deciding.
Review checklist
- Fewer people seeing the offer? Compare the same channel and a similar period, including seasonality and promotions.
- Enquiries stable but fewer sales? Review real chats or calls for pricing, stock, trust and response delays.
- Orders exist but less money arrives? Separate registered orders from delivered, paid orders; review cancellations and collections.
- Before changing anything, identify the first changed metric, a suspected cause, one test, its owner and review date.
